Don’t Judge Me!
To judge at the finals of the 2024 European Street Food Awards (where the best street food traders in Europe have entered the best street food menu in the history of the world) requires the following:
1. An appetite. With 28 finalists, each entering two dishes for judging, that’s 56 plates of food. We advise our judges to skip breakfast.
2. A critical distance – an ability to judge a juicy, two-fisted burger as even-handedly as a pav. Or a plate of creole chicken.
With our 2024 line-up of cheffing giants food bloggers and street food aficionados we think we’ve got the dream team. Check this lot out:
Sebastian Sandor is head chef of the LaMaison Hotel in Saarlouis – named Hotel of the Year in the 2023 Feinschmecker Guide – and responsible for the Pastis Bistro and the two Michelin-star Restaurant Louis.
Andreas Schackmann is a BBQ master and ‘Schwenkweltmeister’ – Schwenker World Champion. A schwenker is a heavy duty grill that swings over a barbecue, and it’s an ancient culinary art that requires timing and skill.
They will be joined at the 2024 judges’ table by Sarah Strichertz, a German-French lawyer celebrated for her influential @strssarah instagram account with its colourful mix of regional Saarland Tips, Travel Moments and Interiors.
And to complete our jury we’ve got the legendary Andre Mampft, (“the oldest food blogger in Saarland”) PLUS Mo Seer, the owner and host of the Handelshof restaurant in Saarbrücken AND Richard Johnson, award-winning food writer and the founder of the European Street Food Awards. What a line-up!
