Four Trucks Sake
When it comes to street food, Italy isn’t just bringing home the bacon — it’s slow-smoking the brisket, perfecting the pickles, seasoning the curry and serving it all with a side of international ambition.
Since 2019, Eatinero has proudly acted as Italy’s official representative for the European Street Food Awards, championing the country’s finest street food operators and selecting the businesses that will carry the Italian flag at Europe’s most prestigious street food competition.
And in 2026, the competition was hotter than a freshly fried panzerotto.
Two Italian finals, eighteen competing food trucks and four coveted places at the European Grand Final were up for grabs. The stakes were high, the flavours were bold and the judges certainly had plenty on their plates.
Codogno Serves Up the First Winners
The first Italian final took place in Codogno from 8-10 May 2026, where nine food trucks battled it out for the first qualification spots.
After careful tasting, inspection and deliberation, the judges found themselves impressed by one standout competitor: Joe’s American BBQ.
The Black Angus brisket sandwich, loaded with cheddar cheese, jalapeños and a secret homemade sauce, proved simply impossible to ignore. The result? A well-deserved victory and the first ticket to the European Street Food Awards Grand Final.
But the judges weren’t the only ones with an appetite for excellence.
The People’s Choice Award went to Indian Street Food, whose samosas, pani puri and curry rice once again demonstrated that great street food knows no borders. Having finished runner-up in 2025, the truck finally curried favour with the public and secured its own place among Italy’s European representatives.
Padenghe Raises the Bar — Again
The second Italian final rolled into Padenghe sul Garda from 22 to 24 May, with another nine operators competing for the remaining qualification places.
Following a weekend of tastings, inspections and plenty of difficult decisions, the jury crowned a familiar champion.
For the second consecutive year, Rock Burger proved it still had the recipe for success.
Its signature sandwich featuring Black Angus pastrami, homemade pickles and Alabama White Sauce once again left judges wanting an encore. In the world of street food, defending a title is never easy, but Rock Burger showed it wasn’t simply resting on its buns.
The final qualification place was left in the hands of the public.
Blue Blood Dog seized the opportunity with both hands — and plenty of napkins. Its authentic hot dogs and distinctive cheesecake-on-a-stick creations captured the imagination of visitors and ultimately won the People’s Choice Award. A combination of originality, personality and flavour made it clear that this truck was no flash in the pan.
Joe’s American BBQ, Indian Street Food, Rock Burger and Blue Blood Dog will now represent Italy at the European Street Food Awards Grand Final, taking place in Saarbrücken, Germany, from 18 to 20 September 2026.
Together, they embody everything that makes modern street food so exciting: quality ingredients, creativity, craftsmanship and the ability to bring people together one unforgettable bite at a time.
Whether it’s smoked brisket, vibrant Indian flavours, award-winning burgers or crowd-pleasing hot dogs, these four operators have already proved they’re the cream of the crop — or perhaps the cheese on the focaccia.
Now they head to Germany carrying the hopes of Italian street food on their shoulders.
No pressure.
After all, they’re already rolling in the dough.
