Vive Le Burger
A burger is a simple, two-fisted classic. Doesn’t need messing with. But sometimes, as we know at the European Street Food Awards, a real game-changer comes along. The winner and the runner-up of the 2025 French Street Food Awards are both burger specialists who are set on shaking things up at the final of the 2025 European Street Food Awards in Munich. Are we ready?
Thomas Fettouhi won the French Street Food Awards AND the WFC France Burger 2025 with his creation The Porn Corn. “A corn bread, a magical sauce made with smoked bacon mayonnaise and Bourbon bbq sauce, slices of bacon marinated in bourbon and paprika, smoked cheddar, grilled pepper pickles, fried onions in maize flour, a 150g steak and fried popcorn with cayenne pepper” he says. Magnifique.
And he’s excited to represent France at the ESFA finals on October 10-12. “When I hear Munich I hear beer – and I like beer!!” says Thomas. He’ll be joined at the competition by Christopher Skatulski from Le Central Original, who won second place by revisiting Californian-style for his cheeseburger inspiration.
The Hereford beef patty, avocado, mixed pickles, tomatoes, peppers, corn, cabbage, bacon jam, mature cheddar, cucumber and pineapple relish, curry mayonnaise, chives and fried onions is served on a brioche bun. “It is a source of pride for me to represent France at the final of the European Street Food Awards, but also a major challenge. It’s a street art in its own right. I already imagine myself adapting mythical recipes of French gastronomy to merge with street food.”
