Go Germany!

Despite the changeable weather conditions – from 28 degrees in the sun to 15 degrees in continuous rain – the crowds flocked to Munich for the 2025 German Street Food Awards. And they were NOT disappointed. The jury voted Son’s Asian Streetfood as Champions, with Toni’s Eatery winning out as People’s Choice. Only 30 votes separated them from the runners-up, it was a very close result in such a high-class field of participants.

It’s the second year running that Toni Tanzer has been voted Germany’s People’s Choice. Hundreds of burgers went over the counter at Toni’s Eatery – his F***ing Burger was understandably the talk of the Awards – accompanied by enthusiastic feedback from the visitors. “You fought, sweated, laughed and gave everything,” said Toni, in a thank you to his crew. “Without you, this would not have been possible.”

“For me” says Toni, “a burger is much more than just street food or part of a fast food business – it should be made with a real first-class taste. We wanted to show that honest street food is possible at the highest level. The fact that we were able to inspire so many people with it is the greatest reward and a satisfaction for the enormous preparation for this wonderful award.”

With the German title win, the teams have qualified for the grand finals of the European Street Food Awards in Munich on 10-12 October 2025. “There, Europe’s best street food crews will meet” says Toni, who competed at the ESFA finals in Saarbrucken last year. “A culinary summit that not only makes connoisseurs’ hearts beat faster, but also celebrates the spirit of European food truck culture.”
