Climb Every Mountain

Well done to Thai Moving Noodles for sweeping all before them this weekend, and becoming the 2022 Swiss champions. Aon Homberger and her team – plus that SUPER cute Renault – will now make the long trek across the mountains this October to take on the other champions of Europe at the grand final of the European Street Food Awards in Munich.

“This weekend was one of the most exciting events in my life” says Aon. “I was really wondering if people who came to vote would love our food or not!! Winning the competition showed us that people love and enjoy our healthy Thai noodle soup which we cook with love. We loved to see them happily eating. Moreover, we are delighted with this win because our food was chosen by the jury who were experts in the food and restaurant business. This means for us so much!”

And what a jury it was. Our judges included Benjamin Herzog from Falstaff, Alexandra Muller from Romantik Hôtel l’Etoile Charmey, and Marco Pero, the host, developer and co-designer of the Zurich gastronomy scene – and the Swiss public, who came down to support their own. “We are so excited to represent the Best of Switzerland and looking forward to be a part of European Street Food Awards in Munich this October” says Aon. “We do hope people in Munich will love our food too.”

It all went off in downtown Zurich, in front of the commercial centre of the St. Jakob Foundation named in honour of the founder, Marie-Bürkli-Eck. And parked up, trying to woo the public for their votes, were an impressive lineup of finalists:

Acapulco Grill
Afghan Laziz
Chef Silon
Don Curry
El tacon de oro
Grindogballs Schweiz
LONG CORN
Manu’s Foodliner
planted.
Tenz
The Neighbours Food

And, in the end, it was close. But, on Sunday, the results were as follows:

Best of Switzerland: Thai Moving Noodles
Jury’s Favorite: Afghan Laziz
People’s Choice: Don Curry

Well done Thai Moving Noodles. See you in Munich!
